Morning Movement

Phonics

Recap the Phase 3 digraphs/trigraph that we have learnt using the Phonics wheel game: https://wordwall.net/resource/9316227/phase-3-letters-sounds-random-wheel

Click spin to spin the wheel. Can you say aloud the sound and then identify what the picture is? Once read, click eliminate and spin again. 

Building skyscrapers game:

This is a fun practical activity to apply Phonics knowledge and encourages counting, addition and measurement! You will need a dice, some tricky word cards (see sheet below or make your own), a sheet of paper and some duplo/lego blocks. 

Instructions:

Pick a tricky word card then roll the dice. Read the word and then put that number of blocks on top of the space on the sheet of paper. Repeat until all tricky words are read. 

Which skyscraper is the tallest? 

Which skyscraper is the shortest? 

How many blocks do you have on each skyscraper? 

Today we are going to learn how to write the tricky words ‘I’ and ‘the’ by memory. Watch the animation clip for each word twice (see videos in Remote Learning channel on Teams) and then practice writing each word without looking at anything to help you. How many times can you write it correctly? Can you challenge yourself to write the word in a sentence?

Literacy

Watch Mrs Alden’s video in the 'Remote Learning' channel on Teams and find out about her job. Please see photographs to accompany her video in the same channel. Answer the following questions about the video and tell an adult.

1.What is her job? 

2.What do they mainly treat in the vet practice?

3.What exotic animals do they treat? 

4.What does she use to listen to the animals hearts and lungs?

5.Why is the purple bandage good to use?
