Wk 2 Day 2 12.1.21

Tuesday 12th January 2021

Morning Movement

Try one of these Disney Shake Up games: https://www.nhs.uk/10-minute-shake-up/shake-ups or choose something else from the ‘Be Active’ folder (see tab on Class R remote learning page.

Phonics

Recap yesterday's digraph 'th' by watching Geraldine the Giraffe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U354eD-hgQ&list=PLbLK9vA5SHxMngmNql2aUhhXRDlUD97za&index=2&t=0s

Quick flashcards game: Time 1 minute on a phone/timer then show children a Phase 2/3 sound flashcard and child to say the sound aloud as quickly as they can. How many sounds can you say correctly in a minute? You might like to record the amount of flashcards you read in a minute. Can you try again and be even quicker this time?

(We have learnt all of Phase 2 sounds and the following Phase 3 phonemes: j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, sh, ch, th). Flashcards can be found via the Phonics tab on the Remote Learning main page.

Active Phonics game: Write down some Phase 2/3 sounds on individual pieces of paper or print the attached sheet and cut out the sounds. Place each sound in a space on the floor/in a hoop. Child to jump to each sound at a time and say the sound aloud e.g. ‘s’ - ‘a’ – ‘t’ then blend the word together = sat. Then change each sound and repeat activity.

You might like to add some digraphs to make it more tricky. We have learnt ‘ss’, ‘ll’, ‘ff’, ‘ck’,’qu’, ‘sh’, ‘ch’ and ‘th’ so far.

This activity encourages your child to use their whole body whilst learning so it’s great for developing their gross motor skills too!

Challenge: Write a list of words that you created in your yellow workbook.

Literacy
Naughty Bus is still missing… I hope you are all on the look out! I’m sure your posters will help us to find Naughty Bus.

Recap story (watch Miss Levy’s video or read the copy of the story aloud to your

child).

Then I would like you to recreate some of the scenes from the story using your own toys/lego/materials at home. For example, you could create the tall buildings and traffic in London, the bus queue or even the baked bean scene if you can bear the mess! You might like to print some of the scenes from the story to support your child (see Powerpoint below). Encourage your child to retell parts of the story in their own words as they recreate these scenes. You might like to take some photos of your creations and share in the 'home learning work' area of Teams.
