Here We Are: By Oliver Jeffers
Following our return to full classes, all of the classes in Chevening have been working with another great book written by Oliver Jeffers.
Along with this being a lovely book, it is perfect for exploring ideas about how we can rebuild many of the aspects impacted by Covid and the restrictions. Again, we are able to explore our feelings and develop greater understanding for the new ways we have to act; the new environments we find ourselves in; and the opportunities to recover and rebuild from the issues we have faced.
We thought about the ‘tools’ we had to help ourselves recover from all the challenges over the year. Even though they were metaphorical, the children were really good at working out how each could relate to feelings and actions. These tools helped us and we fashioned the ‘bricks’ we would use to build with.
We then thought about the ‘mortar’ that could help us stick together as a community. These were all our ideas about how we could help each other.
There's still a lot to do - so watch this space..!
What Makes A House A Home?
You can flick through the slides one by one to read some of our poems about why our homes are so special and what makes them a home rather than just a house. At the end is a final poem from Molly about what makes our school Chevening!
