Welcome

‘Together we learn, believe and achieve’

About our school:
Chevening Primary School is a friendly Church of England village school, which has served its local community over many years. Information about our school can be found on the various pages of this website. For the most recent news, please look at our weekly Newsletters - found in the Parents' area- and also the class webpages - found in the Children's area. News from our wonderful PTA can be found in the Community area, as well as on social media.

We continue to enjoy good links with St. Botolph’s Church, as well as other local evangelical churches and we endeavour to help all our children develop their understanding of the Christian faith.

Headteacher's Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to our school and hope that this electronic visit will inspire you to want to want to know more - please contact us by email/phone to start with, as our usual pattern of Open Mornings has been disrupted by COVID. Belonging to Chevening Primary School is an important motivator for staff, children and parents - we work well together to ensure we provide the best opportunities for our children, so they can flourish and achieve well now and into the future.

The founding of the school in 1818 was an investment by local eminent landowners, our local Parish Church and other local generous benefactors. They committed their expertise, time and wealth to providing education for Parish children, in a Christian context. This enduring mission continues today; Chevening's Christian character is preserved and promoted in all we do and say. Our Christian values underpin our policies, approaches and daily diet of learning. Not all our families or staff share a Christian faith, but all unite in promoting the special ethos, vision and values that underpin all we do. Today's Chevening's children, staff and families are very well supported by St Botolph's Church, other local Churches, the Rochester Diocesan Board of Education and Kent County Council.

As the current workers and guardians of the school, the Governors and staff are committed to securing the best for our children. We are apsirational for our children to achieve their potential, flourish and excel in many ways, through our on-going commitment, plans and continuing development. Recent developments have included a refreshed curriculum, to ensure our teaching is well-planned, sequenced, inspiring, challenging and creative. We believe each child is precious, an individual blessed with unique gifts, talents and characteristics; we work hard to encourage and support each child as we discover where their strengths and interests lie.  In their time at Chevening, each child grows knowing that their belonging to our school family is important and, equally, that our school community belongs to them. This fosters a pride in their school and its achievements, and an understanding that each individual is a very important part of the whole.

Please explore this site to find out more about our school - the context, opportunities and achievements already undertaken and our desire to continue to grow and develop. There is a happy, positive and determined drive to do well; our children are our best ambassadors and recently told inspectors that they feel "cherished".

If you would like to know more, please let us know; I look forward to meeting you.
