Phonics

Question of the day: Can crabs clap hands? 

Write the question on a piece of paper and add sound buttons. Can you use the sound buttons to help you read the question?

Today we will be learning the digraph ‘ow’. Watch Miss Levy’s Phonics video on Teams. You can find it in the ‘Remote Learning’ channel under Files. You will need a piece of paper and a pencil whilst you are watching so you can join in. 

Literacy

Recap the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ by reading the story again with the read along version:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twE_dGOehCg - Encourage your child to join in with the repetitive phrases such as ‘Not by the hair of my chiny, chin, chin…” 

Can you spot any tricky words whilst you are listening to the story?

After reading, discuss:

Who are the characters in the story?

What is the setting of the story? (Where does it take place?)

What happens at the beginning? Middle? End?

See the 6 story picture cards in the Literacy folder and cut out and stick the story in order in your journal. If you don’t have access to a printer, draw your own 6 pictures using the template for support. Say aloud what is happening in each picture as you order the story. 

Challenge: To write a simple sentence underneath each picture to describe what is happening in the picture e.g. The three pigs said bye to Mum.
