The school's Governing Body and staff reviewed the situation and, mindful that the historic feature sets the school apart and emphasises the enduring links with Chevening House and the local community, decided to embark on a full-scale refurbishment, bringing the pool up-to-date in terms of infrastructure and facility. This was an ambitious decision - to secure a full refurbishment programme, without draining the funds required for normal school requirements. Through diligent effort and hard work, Governors and staff embarked on a fundraising drive, assisted by a modern-day benefactor and the school's own PTA. By January 2019, some 70% of the funds were raised and the pool project was well underway.
New efforts are now being made to raise the funds for the changing room upgrade, to include new cladding, double-glazing and fresh interiors. Following the tradition of previous large-scale projects, there is an opportunity for past, present and future school families, local friends and businesses to leave a lasting mark on the pool project, by 'seas-ing' the opportunity to sponsor a fish. With swimming education as our theme, individual small and large fish will be used to form lasting poolside art panels, featuring 'schools' of fish swimming around the pool to inspire our young swimmers for years to come.
If you are interested in sponsoring a fish, please return your completed application form (see below) to the school. Please consider sharing this request with your friends and families, or others who may be interested in joining our fundraising efforts. Thank you for supporting our swimmers!
