School PTFA

‘Together we learn, believe and achieve’
Welcome to the PTFA section of our website. To stay up to date on all events PTFA, join their Facebook page today (open to parents of Chevening school pupils only).

At Chevening, we’re really lucky to have a very involved and supportive group of parents and a very active PTFA. The PTFA’s main function is to fundraise. We organise various activities and events for both children and parents throughout the academic year and use the money raised to fund various requests the school may have.

Over the past few years we have helped fund the purchase and maintenance of two new minibuses for the school, interactive smart boards for classrooms, replacement reading schemes, pantomime trips and the refurbishment of the school swimming pool.

At Chevening, all parents are automatically part of the PTFA and we do encourage people to be as actively involved as they can. Please do come to our PTFA meetings that are held each term; being part of the PTFA is a great way to meet other parents in the school, experience first-hand the wonderful school community and a rewarding way to volunteer.

Chevening's very first PTA Pre-Loved selling site via eBay Market Place!

It's now possible to raise money for the PTA by selling your unwanted toys & games, school uniform and even household items on the online marketplace eBay!  We've tried to make it as easy as possible to use.  Just follow these steps:

  1. Click "Sell" and enter the item details as you normally would.
  2. In the "Selling details" section, tick the "Make a donation" box and choose Chevening Primary School PTA (if you don't see it in the list, click the "select another charity" link and search for Chevening).  Then choose how much of the sale price you want to donate.
  3. When your item sells, you'll receive all of the money, probably by PayPal but it could also be cash or cheque etc...
  4. Two weeks later, PayPal will take the amount that you chose to donate.  The payment will go to the "PayPal Giving Fund".

Charity listings have a little blue ribbon next to them, and you can see all the items that currently benefit Chevening PTA at:

You can also use that page to set Chevening PTA as your favourite eBay charity, so it's the first choice in all your charity listings.

Important - Gift Aid!

If you are a taxpayer, then the PTA can raise an extra 25% on top of your donations via Gift Aid.  You can declare Gift Aid for all of your PayPal donations by following this link:

Questions & Answers

Here are some questions you might have, but if you think of any more please email me ( and I'll try to find the answers!

Q. Why does PayPal wait 2 weeks before taking the money I want to donate?

A. It's just in case the item needs to be refunded for any reason.

Q. Do I have to donate the full amount to the PTA?

A. No, you can choose anywhere between 10% to 100%.  For small items that you would have donated to charity anyway, then obviously we hope you'll donate 100%.  But if you're selling valuable items then you might just want to make a smaller donation.

Q. Do I still have to pay eBay and PayPal fees?

A. Not on the portion that you donate to charity!  If you choose to donate the full amount then neither you nor the PTA has to pay a penny in eBay or PayPal fees.

Q. Will the PTA be selling items on here?

A. Yes, the plan is to use this to sell 2nd hand uniform and possibly other items which have been donated.  In the current climate we can't hold a "traditional" uniform sale where people gather together and thumb through all the items...

Q. Is it just other Chevening parents who can see my listings?

A. No, there's no reason to limit sales just to other parents.  If it's something you could post, then please do add a postage option and a sensible postage amount.  But in the delivery details you should always add a 'local collection' option that parents can use, and then arrange to hand over the item at school drop-off or pick-up.

Q. I've got nothing to sell, but I still really want to make a donation?!

A. That's so kind!  And it's possible to donate directly via our PayPal page here (please don't forget the Gift Aid!):

The PTA held their AGM on Tuesday 8th October at which Heidi Brooks formally stepped down after serving her three year term as PTA Chair and thus creating a vacancy.
Fran Sanderson also officially stepped down from her position as PTA Treasurer.  Graham Stoneman (Father to Y4 and Y1 pupils) was nominated, and officially elected as the new PTA Treasurer and we are very grateful to have Graham on-board.
Both Heidi and Fran have been huge assets to the PTA over the last 3 years and their leadership, hard work and commitment have enabled us to raise significant funds for our school.  We are very pleased that Heidi and Fran will continue their involvement with the PTA as official committee members.
To ensure that the great work of the PTA continues, we are actively looking to fill the role of PTA Chairperson.  This leadership position is essential to ensure the PTA remains effective at raising crucial funds for our school.  The role could also be done by two people sharing the role as a Chair and Vice Chair and will be supported by the officers (Secretary and Treasurer), and an active committee.
If you would like to be considered, or would like any further information, please speak with Heidi Brooks or myself and we would be happy to provide further information on the functions of the role.
