Junior Duke
The Junior Duke Award Scheme is an inclusive award scheme for children aged 5 to 13 years old. The children need to choose 7 challenges from the ten challenges in the book. Over the year our children strive to finish the award taking great pride in its completion, as something exciting and different from normal school work.
Each challenge is assessed as it is completed, and we all enjoy the chance to celebrate together in celebration worship on a Friday afternoon.
We have been working hard on our Junior Duke Challenges and looking forward to the first person in the class completing all seven challenges. So far we have seen:
Cooking - Pad Thai and Red chilli prawns with rice and green beans - which were both delicious. We have also had chilli con crane and chicken kebabs - there is no end to the talents of the year 6 chefs!
IT: One of our budding IT engineers has made web pages for Lord of the Rings Lego
Domestic: We have learnt about making beds and washing the bedlinen - very good practice for the future!
Happiness: Finding that something that makes us feel important is so good for our well-being, we have explored the different things that make us happy - ice cream was one chosen - what's yours?
