British Wildlife Centre
We had a truly fantastic and memorable visit to The British Wildlife Centre this week. Inspired by our recent work on The Gruffalo, we arrived full of excitement and curiosity, eager to spot real-life animals that re-minded us of the much-loved story.
From the moment we arrived, there was so much to see and learn. We were thrilled to discover more about the sly fox and had great fun guessing which of the Centre’s magnificent owls might have been the one from the tale. We even spotted a little mouse scurrying through the wheat and were delighted to see some tiny baby mice too. Some eagle-eyed explorers managed to find a snake cleverly camouflaged in the grass, while another was spotted swimming in the pond. Although we didn’t see the Gruffalo himself, perhaps that was for the best!
One of the highlights of the day was watching the animals being fed. We were fascinated to learn which animals are herbivores, carnivores, or omnivores. Seeing a hedgehog up close and meeting Yoda the owl was truly magical. His calm presence and piercing eyes left a lasting impression on everyone. We were also captivated by the loud croaking of the frogs. Who would have thought they could be so noisy?
