A Rainforest Adventure!
Thanks to Wakehurst Place for receiving and welcoming us for a rainforest-themed medley of activities! We began by immersing ourselves in this new topic we are now focusing on by carrying out a workshop, consisting of an array of different activities. Not only did we learn about the key characteristics of a rainforest but also where they are located and about the all-important produce they help to provide. All the while, there was a focus on sustainability and the impact that some human actions are having on this extraordinary environment. Later, we embarked on an 'inspired by nature' creative art session in the garden. Using only those resources available to us (the focus again being sustainability), the children had to design, create and name their very own seed-producing plants. They then had to put their best persuasive powers to the test; convince the judges why theirs was worthy enough to make it into the world's largest seed bank, currently located there. Finally, we couldn't leave without going and exploring some of the wondrous wildlife found within these unique grounds. Escorted by some very knowledgeable guides, our visit concluded with some very fascinating rainforest trails.
