A Magic Carpet Ride
This week, something truly enchanting happened in our classroom—a beautiful magic carpet arrived on Monday and sparked a flurry of excitement! The children were bursting with stories about their own magical carpet adventures and imagined all the wonderful places they’d love to fly to. Our role play area quickly transformed into a favourite hangout spot, complete with imaginative rides and lots of laughter (especially in our swimwear!).
We also began our new book ‘My Granny Went to Market’ by Stella Blackstone, which tells the story of a globe-trotting granny who buys a flying carpet from a market in Istanbul. Together, we’ve joined her on her exciting adventures around the world.
So far, we’ve soared to:
· Thailand, where we explored stunning temples and talked about the culture and traditions.
· Mexico, where we looked at the carnival and masks.
· China, where we learned about the magnificent Great Wall and the country’s rich history.
Along the way, we've been busy using maps to locate each country, compare the counties sizes, and examine how their environments differ from the UK. The children have shown fantastic curiosity and enthusiasm, and we’re all eager to see where Granny's flying carpet takes us next week.
