Commemorating 80 Years Since VE Day
To mark 80 years since VE Day, we spent time learning about the importance of this historic day and what it meant to people in 1945. We explored some key events of the Second World War and talked about how children at the time might have felt—living through such a significant moment in history.
As part of our commemoration, we joined the whole school in a respectful two-minute silence, taking time to reflect on the sacrifices made and the sense of relief and hope that came with Victory in Europe.
We also enjoyed a creative activity where we decorated paper plates with images and symbols inspired by VE Day celebrations. It was a thoughtful and meaningful way to help us connect with the past and understand why this date is still remembered today.
