This week marked the beginning of Lent. On Tuesday, Class R participated in a pancake-themed Act of Worship, where they learnt about Shrove Tuesday and its significance to Christians. They read "The Pancake Maker" by Michael Rosen, creating inspiration for various pancake-related activities in the classroom, including tossing pancakes, serving them to friends in the role-play area, creating and decorating playdough pancakes, making pancake patterns, writing ingredient lists, and practicing challenging words on pancakes. In the afternoon, they explored how Shrove Tuesday is celebrated in the UK and around the world before making their own pancakes with Mrs. Quireshi. The highlight was choosing delicious toppings and, of course, gobbling them up!
