Chemical Reactions!

Class 5 has already had quite an explosive start back into this new year as they conclude their learning about properties and changes of materials.  Their final focus has been on irreversible changes that take place.  They learnt and found out about the different processes that can cause this type of reaction as well as observed the formation of new materials through the carrying out of a freaky hand investigation.  The mixing of the two different substances, bicarbonate of soda and vinegar, caused a chemical reaction and the production of new materials, including carbon dioxide, which could evidently be observed and seen through the slow (and somewhat creepy) inflation of the gloves.  Indeed, a sight to behold - but not for the faint-hearted!
