‘Together we learn, believe and achieve’
Our Power of Reading text for this term is "The Rabbits" by John Marsden and Shaun Tan. Both are Australian authors. The Rabbits is a very powerful allegory, presented in the form of a picture book. We have done lots of writing based on this book, in a range of genres. We chose some of our favourite pieces and wrote these up for display.
Class 6 have been enjoying reading all about Shackleton's Journey on the Endurance. We are using the beautifully illustrated account by William Grill. Already the children have written Bon Voyage cards to their given crew member and some fantastic poetry about the Weddell Sea.
We have started the year by reading Beowulf by Michael Morpurgo. We have also been comparing this to the poem of the same name by Seamus Heaney.
