Welcome to Class 6.
We have already had an incredibly busy start to the year with 11+ tests and our very successful coffee morning. I am so proud of the children and the way they organised, prepared for and ran the coffee morning. Their hard work raised the tremendous sum of £250 for Macmillan cancer relief. Many thanks to all of you who came along to support them in the morning and also bought cakes in the afternoon.
Homework: Homework will be given out on a Wednesday each week and should be handed back in on the following Monday. It is very important that the children establish good homework patterns this year to prepare them for the rigours of secondary school.
The homework will take the form of ONE test from the Mental Arithmetic book and a piece of English. Each term they will also be asked to complete a project based homework.
TERM 1: This term's project homework is to complete a mountain project. This can be a written project or a 3D model, but should not be a Powerpoint presentation. This homework is due in on Monday 29th October
PE: Our PE sessions this year take place on a Thursday and Friday afternoon. We will be learning a variety of ball skill and applying these to a range of different games. In Term 2 we will be looking at balances in gymnastics. Please ensure that your child has a full PE kit at school for these sessions.
Each morning we will also be taking part in The Daily Mile. The aim of The Daily Mile is to incorporate 15 minutes of self-paced physical activity (walking, jogging or running) into the children's daily life, to experience the benefits of regular exercise. In addition to the running, we are practicing hand - eye co-ordination and stretching. This exercise at the beginning of the school day helps to give improved focus on tasks in the classroom.
