Aboriginal Dot Painting
As part of our Oceania topic we have been learning the art of dot painting. Whilst being a part of Aboriginal culture for thousands of years, it is only in the last 50 years that dot paintings have been recorded permanently on canvas.
We found out about the Aboriginal artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye. Inspired by her approach, we went and tested out different techniques for dot painting in the hall - sitting on the floor like she did and even using both hands to paint according to which side of our page we were working on!
Viking Longships!
We had a great time designing and making our own Viking Longships. First we researched what Viking Longships were like in design, then considered how we could build our models so that they will float.
