Poetry appreciation in Class 1
In preparation for National Poetry Day next week, Class 1 have been thoroughly enjoying their class text, 'Here's a little Poem' collected by Jane Yollen. It is a superb selection of poems which have started the important task of building a class repertoire of favourite poems which we all know, share and delight in. The children have responded to the poems imaginatively through the creative arts; drama, dance and art as well as drawing on the poems' use of language to inspire their own compositions. The highlight of the week has been both performing and illustrating the poem, 'A circle of Sun' by Rebecca Kai Dotlich.
