Ahoy There, Me Hearties!
We had a wonderful Pirate Day on Thursday, packed with fun, learning, and imagination from start to finish. The children climbed aboard our pirate ship and set sail on a swashbuckling adventure, dancing to lively pirate music and carefully copying the actions as they sang and moved together. Throughout the day, the children enjoyed a range of exciting pirate-themed activities. They designed and created their own treasure maps to help guide them to hidden gold and made pirate hats so they could truly look the part. Outside in the sandpit, they dug enthusiastically for buried treasure and threw cannonballs at the ships (skittles). Inside the classroom, the children helped the Pirate Bee-Bots find hidden treasure by programming simple routes, developing their early coding and problem-solving skills. Later, we shared a fantastic story all about how to be a pirate, which inspired even more imaginative role-play. Just when we thought our adventure had come to an end, a mysterious clue appeared and led us on an exciting treasure hunt. Following the clues, we made our way to Forest School, where we discovered some real treasure waiting for us, a delicious biscuit and a sticker for every pirate. The pirate fun continued in Forest School, where the children created their own pirate flags, built giant “X marks the spot” treasure markers using natural materials, and enjoyed lots of imaginative pirate role-play with their friends.
