Rocks, Fossils & Soil

We've embarked on the exciting new challenge in Science of becoming Rock Detectives.  First thing was first, as we put our observational skills to the test, recording our findings.  I wonder how many different adjectives you could think of to describe something as 'simple' as a rock?  We then moved on to some investigative work to try and work out whether rocks were igneous, sedimentary or metamorphic.
