School Values

‘Together we learn, believe and achieve’
Our school values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

OUR CHRISTIAN VALUES

At Chevening School we aim to live by the principles of the Christian faith at all times; in our thoughts, words and actions. To help us all to do this with increasing success, we try to remember and act in accordance with the following values which are fundamental to Christianity. Living according to them is encouraged in the Bible and we have chosen a number of Bible verses to demonstrate this:

Koinonia (community), Compassion and Service

1 Peter 3:8 Live in harmony with one another.....be compassionate and humble.
Matthew 22:39 Love your neighbour as yourself.

Forgiveness and Peace
Colossians 3:13 and 15 Forgive as the Lord forgave you.... Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts

Thankfulness and Trust

Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.

Justice and Humility
Micah 6:8 Act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.

Wisdom

Proverbs 23: 15 My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice.

Reverence

Psalms 29:2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendour of his holiness.

Hope and Endurance
Hebrews 10:23 Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of faith.

OUR SCHOOL PRAYER

This prayer was written in 2015 with the aim of incorporating all our Christian Values. Our artist in residence, Mrs Sue Salter, worked with many of the children in the school to portray our Christian values through art and to illustrate the prayer. This art work is in our school hall and gives us a focus for our Collective Worship.

‘Compassionately love one another and live in harmony’

Our Father,
We worship you Lord God because you are holy and always faithful.

You are forgiving, good and abounding in love for us all.

So we trust you and thank you with our joyful hearts.

We ask that your peace will
rule in our hearts as we act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with you.

Please help us to be gentle, patient and forgiving as we strive to compassionately love one another and live in harmony here at Chevening School.

Please guide us in our learning. We thank you
that your heart rejoices as we grow in wisdom, hope and love.

Amen
