COMPETITIONS

Welcome to the Competition Page.
We are proud to host a continuation of the Open Photography competition.
We have an Open Writing Competition and an Open ICT / Photography Competition.
We also have details of an exciting Promethean Planet Flipchart competition open to students and Chevening.

"Reflection"

Following the success of our open photography competition and ceremony, we have 3 smaller spin-off competitions. All of these are based on using the images from the online gallery and exhibitions of photos. Click here to see the list of winning entries.

1) Open Photography Competition Continuation - "Reflection"
We have all enjoyed reflecting on your fantastic original entries so much that we decided this would be a good title for a continuation of the competition.
As before, the competition is open to adults and children. Entries need to address the theme of reflection. You can download a leaflet here: Reflection Leaflet
Entries may be digital or on paper. (Unfortunately we will be unable to return these).

As many photographs may be sent as you like and entry is free for children. We would appreciate a donation of £1 per entry for the adult competition. Cheques made payable to "Chevening School Voluntary Fund" please. Proceeds will be split evenly between the local charity supported by the SNPC (Sevenoaks Network Pupil Council of Schools) and Chevening CEP.

2) Open Writing Competition
Reflecting on the original entries produced much discussion at school. We decided that the pictures would make good starting points for short stories and poems; so we decided to hold an open writing competition. As before, the competition is open to adults and children. Entries need to be inspired by one of the pictures in the online gallery or exhibition. You can download a leaflet here - Writing Competition Leaflet
Entries may be digital or on paper. (Unfortunately we may be unable to return these). How to take part: Simply pick a picture form the online gallery or exhibition; write a text inspired by the image. Refer to the picture you used in an email or letter and include your contact details please. Send your text by email or post. Click "terms and conditions" for contact details.

3) ICT Competition
For this competition entrants are invited to download a picture from our online gallery and then modify it digitally in some way - to tell a new story. You can download a leaflet here - ICT Competition Leaflet

How to take part: Simply pick a picture form the online gallery or exhibition; right-mouse-click on it to copy it; paste it into a photo-software program; crop and digitally alter it to change the mood, focus, atmosphere, story etc. Save the image using an appropriate title and your name. Refer to the picture you used in an email and include your contact details please. Send your new image by email please. Click "terms and conditions" for contact details.

If you would like to use a higher resolution image, you may purchase a CD or DVD with all the high resolution images. In the first example you can see that the background 'clutter' of the paddock has been removed; smoke has been added to give the effect of exhaust fumes and heat. The new picture now seems to suggest speed, noise and danger as the racing car crests a hill on the horizon; whereas the original picture feels like a stationary vehicle parked at a show.

The second example shows a comical effect applied to one of the competition entries!

Pupils from Chevening, St. Botolph's CEP School will be helping with the organisation and running of these competitions as part of their studies. We hope you will be able to support us with some fantastic, inspiring work.

Promethean Planet Flipchart competition

This competition is open to pupils at Chevening CEP School.
Entries will be able to be downloaded and used by any member of Promethean Planet.

The winning entry will receive an iPod Shuffle!
